Our Lil' Angel

I finally got this little monkey to sit still when I pulled out the phone for a pic. This is when he looks best, about 1 week after seeing Hannah the groomer.
When Zeke was a pup, he was attacked by another dog and broke his leg. We were on the road in the motor home at a family reunion, so a quick trip to the local vet to set the leg and a truncated trip to get home to the our vet clinic, Cape Cod Veterinary Specialists and Dr Koshen. They reset and pinned Zeke's right leg and put him in a hard cast.

On a followup visit to the vet, Dr. Koshen was not happy with the way the leg was pointing, so he went back an and moved things around. By all accounts, this particular vet is one of the best orthopedic surgeons in the area. Anyway a couple of surgeries and $4000 later, Zeke was on the mend.

Although this seemed like a like for a six month old pup to endure, the little guy bounced right back, literally. He was scooting around the house on three paws and a peg leg, making a thump-thump-thump, with his little butt bouncing up on each thump. With the hard cast on, the broken leg was straight legged and it put a little hitch in Zeke's giddyup. To this day, when he wants to get somewhere in a hurry, he picks up the right rear leg and half-runs/half hops his way along.
Lately, he has been picking up the leg just walking. It's a reminded that dogs get older fast. Remember, they are a small part of your life, but you are their entire life.
